Just an insight

Watching movies today is so much easier right? All we need to do is open Netflix/Amazon Prime/Disney+/Stan/Foxtel.. and yet some crazy people (like me) still like to spend money buying the physical Blu-ray disks.

But regardless of that, my point is, because I have the blu-ray disks, I also have heaps of extra features that you can't find on the streaming, such as interviews with the Directors and general stuff on how they make the movies etc.

Last week I was watching the features from Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and it is CRAZY! of course that movie counts with an incredible technology and special effects, but if you have ever watched the movie, did you know that that entire corn crop on Copper's farm is for real? and it was 100% planted for the movie. They had nothing there before, not even the house. Tars and Case (the robots) have a real actor behind moving them with a really uncomfortable mechanism. And that dust storm? Also for real, they have used gigantic fans and a stupid amount of (?) something that looks like dirt.

Straight away, 2 things come to my mind....

1) Sustainability (they sold the corn crop after the movie and that payed the investment, but they have also burned dozens of gallons of oil to make the fire scene..)

2) Some directors, even big ones like Christopher Nolan, like to mix the existing technology with "real" situations.. not using effects for everything.. and that is something I find super interesting..
