Based on my research, I am starting to understand that the history of cinema begins with the history of moving images. Narratives and storytelling appeared years later of course, but technologically speaking, everything started with the discover of pictures in movement.
At this stage, the further I could get was 1832 - the year that Joseph Plateau created a spinning disk which created the illusion of movement when viewed in a mirror. It's called the "Phenakistoscope". I've found the below on Youtube, an animation made with Plateau's original disk designs. It's cool.
(immediately I thought: What if I could created an interactive infographic like a Phenakistoscope? I'll keep that in mind for sure! )
& I have also found this website ( https://ancientmagictoys.com/ ) that sells ancient stuff like Joseph Plateau's Phenakistoscope and Eadweard Muybridge flipbooks (I'll talk about him later). If I didn't have a Master to pay I would certainly buy them all. ha!
