Kristin's Interview

Writer's picture: Paula NascimentoPaula Nascimento

Last Thursday I called Kristin on her mobile and he had a really nice chat for around15 minutes, not really long, but enough to get the answers I was looking for.

She sounded lovely and really easy going.

Kristin is from Canada and when she was graduating from high school her intention was to work with visual merchandising. Soon she realised that this wouldn't give her that "sense of purpose" and ended up changing her path to education, where she spent a couple of years teaching Arts, English, and other subjects.

After some years of teaching and with both a bachelors in Arts and Education, Kristin felt she needed something different and decided to come to Australia. In here she still worked a couple years in Education before getting involved with stage/set design in 2012, where she was initially on a managing position and is now integral part of the creative and design process.

She believes her education background was essential to build up the skills she has now, like communication and management. And in the future she thinks on merging her path with education again, maybe teaching or consulting.

Kristin loves running - it's like a stress relief for her. She also loves hosting dinner party for friends and making artisanal candles - this helps her to use her creativity and also to help others as she sells some of the candles to raise money for charity. She is deeply involved with charity and social causes.

And as I suspected, faith plays an important role on her life. She's Christian and she sees a lot of purpose on her job especially because of that. (Kristin currently works at Hillsong Church). She sees meaning on using her creativity and skills for building events and moments that will help a message of kindness and faith to spread.

Our conversation was short but really valuable. I now have a pretty good idea on what I want to share on her "Infographic CV" and I'll be sharing that with you shortly...
