Well, I must say I was a bit scared to do this analogue part. It was certainly challenging but also surprisingly fun. I only had old markers and pencils at home, so I went to Officeworks and bought a whole 48 pack of Faber Castell coloured pencils! I was feeling like a little kid, excited with my new acquisition.
Now that I finished this project, (and most importantly, reflected on the whole process) I will certainly start trusting in the power of analogue ideation again.
I recorded a time-lapse video of my analogue process - 36 seconds summing up couple of hours's work.
My original idea has to simulate a real stage feeling, using wood or carpet textures. I started to google some images as reference, and soon realised that I would need to add a lot of detail to make my stage "realistic", and with the amount of information I had to work with, I could visualise my infographic becoming really messy and overwhelming. So I gave up that idea and decided to use a code coded system that related her particular set of skills with her professional and academic experiences.
I am quite happy with the final result but really unsure about the colours. Normally I would change the colour scheme a thousand times on Illustrator until I find something I like, but as I obviously didn't have the time to draw it up and colour lots of options, I decided to go with one palette and immediately regretted - but had no time to start again. So yeah..the colours will change for the digital version.
